NEW RETAIL OUTLET EXPECTED TO RAISE THOUSANDS FOR HOSPICE
A new retail outlet for St Cuthbert’s Hospice is expected to unlock thousands of pounds of extra monies for the treatment of local people with life limiting illness and the support of their grieving families.
The St Cuthbert’s Hospice Furniture and Homeware Outlet, on the Meadowfield Industrial Estate will be opened next Wednesday, September 10th by the organisation’s chief executive, Paul Marriott.
Mr Marriott said: “We hope by opening this facility, we are able to offer to our local community a service they can really benefit from.
“All the monies we raise through the outlet, as with our other seven shops across the county, goes toward maintaining services in our In Patient and Day Hospice. The money will also be used to help our bereavement, dementia and other services for local people.”
The outlet, on the Meadowfield Industrial Estate has resulted in two new jobs and a host of opportunities for volunteer workers. It will offer high quality pre-owned furniture and homeware for living and dining rooms, bedrooms and kitchens. PAT tested small electrical and goods will also be for sale.
Bill Brierley, Retail Supervisor at the store, said: “We are all very excited to be part of this. We are looking for volunteers and will always need people’s donations. The goods are very, very reasonably priced and you won’t find anything that is worn-out or dirty.”
