THIS month, building work to create a new Reception area, and additional therapy rooms and offices will begin.
The work will continue through to the end of October 2016 and will require us to close the middle section of the building throughout this period.
This briefing note is to let you know how you will be affected and what arrangements have been out in place while the building work is going on.
Access to Hospice from the main car park
A new path from the main car park path (through the woods) will give access to the front of the Hospice.
Temporary Main Reception
A Temporary Main Reception and switchboard will be sited in what is currently the Residents’ and Visitors’ Lounge in the In Patient Unit.
Visitors to the In Patient Unit (IPU)
Office hours
Access to the IPU will be through the Temporary Main Reception.
Out of hours
Access to the IPU will be through a new temporary entrance at the rear of the Hospice. The new temporary entrance will be clearly signed. This access will also be used to admit new patients to the In-Patient Unit during the day.
For the duration of the works, the Residents and Visitors’ lounge facility will move to what is now Room 9.
The vending machine which is currently in the Reception area will move to the temporary Reception and so will still be available to visitors to IPU at all times.
Day Hospice Guests
Access to the Day Hospice for guests, will be through the Day Hospice Lounge at the front of the building.
Anyone coming to Day Hospice in transport can be dropped off in front of the Hospice.
The Dining Room will be out of commission throughout the works. We will still be providing lunch in the Lounge and in the Art room Lunch will be a bit more “al fresco” and not the usual 3 course lunch. However it will be as nutritious and enjoyable as ever.
