Volunteering at St Cuthbert’s Hospice can not only help the people we’re here to help, but also help you in your chosen career.
Here’s a nice shot of another wonderful young person helping√Ǭ†St Cuthbert’s Hospice: Hannah Picket, pictured with our very own Jade.
Hannah used to work with Jade and the rest of the fund raising team up until August last year. She’s now an operations assistant at Durham University and her career is off the ground.
Hannah says: “I came in two and a half days a week for twelve months and I had such a brilliant time. I was always made to feel like one of the team – there was never any ‘them and us’ between staff and volunteers.
“The hospice is amazing. Everybody is so friendly. I just had an overwhelming sense that I was doing something good and it made me feel good.
“When I went for my job, they told me I was getting it because of the dedication I had shown in doing work unpaid and because of the experience I had gained in working on some great fund raising efforts in the team.”
Hannah is still doing her bit for the hospice. She somehow collected a bag of pennies from the traditionally penniless students and she also grabbed a few collecting boxes to get more cash for what we do.
