If you or someone close to you is living with a life-limiting or terminal illness, including cancer, heart disease, lung disease and neurological diseases, you may be eligible for St Cuthbert’s Hospice services.
There is no charge for our care thanks to donations, gifts in wills and fundraising events. Our generous community of supporters cover over 60% of our running costs, meaning St Cuthbert’s Hospice care is free to all who need it.
Our services include The Living Well Centre, In-Patient Care, Dementia Services and Bereavement Services. At St Cuthbert’s Hospice we care for adults over the age of 18. Our children’s bereavement service, The Jigsaw Project, is available for children aged 5 years onwards and young adults.
We accept referrals from anyone who lives within County Durham Council area. Referrals for In-Patient care from other areas may be considered if the patient has specifically requested to come to St Cuthbert’s Hospice, for example, if their family lives within County Durham, and they are able to register with a local GP.
Referrals can be made by any health care professional such as a GP, District Nurse, Macmillan Nurse or a Clinical Specialist. See the ‘refer a patient’ page if you are a professional looking to make a referral.
